A special shout out from a Canvas Warrior :)

I’d like to dedicate this blog to artist Sandira Reddy and the Canvas Warriors team. Founded in 2009 and based in London, they specialise in creating fantastic pieces of jewellery, hoodies and Converse chucks…. the best part being, all of these are customised to order, and the hoodies and shoes are all HANDPAINTED! Sandira’s work hails a very impressive range of designs from Twilight, Doctor Who, Supernatural, True Blood to name but a few, but she can customise pretty much any design onto a pair of Converse, and it certainly seems like she has fun doing so! πŸ™‚

As yet, I have three pairs from them, the latest pair of which arrived on Saturday, dedicated to Les Mis and two of my leading men who will forever inspire me: Alfie Boe and Hadley Fraser. They feature my favourite lyrics from the showΒ Β and portraits inspired by their characters, Jean Valjean & Javert πŸ™‚ Sandira once told me that painting portraits makes her nervous as she worries that her interpretation may not always look like the one its based on, but with these I think she did a brilliant job. So much so I’ve even got two ideas ready for my next pair πŸ˜‰Β  They’re such a fitting and beautiful tribute from me to my favourite show, I shall wear them with pride πŸ˜€

She has also made me a pair dedicated to my favourite band, and a Twilight pair πŸ™‚ All three are brilliant examples of Sandira’s talent, patience, passion and dedication to her art and I’m very pleased and proud to support the company as it goes from strength to strength πŸ˜€ I have yet to be able to visit one of the many conventions Canvas Warriors have appeared at to thank Sandira for her work in person, but the emails we exchange exude warmth, humour and kindness: thankyou Sandira for your infinite patience while I played around with ideas and changed my mind last minute!

Here’s a taster of my Les Mis shoes πŸ™‚
